This rating is a 5 because the Miches resort is simply amazing. We were 3 generations of travelers, and the resort was perfect. The family suites were well located and roomy, and provided a separate bedroom and two baths. The food selection at the restaurants was creative, delicious and varied. Perfect for palates ages 2-70! Miches is a very child friendly resort, and that exceeded our expectations. The children were free to run on the clean, safe beach, or enjoy the many pools.
We tried the kids club one day, however, the other children bullied our grandson, and this was traumatic. Took turns afterwards.
You could do as much or as little as you wanted. Some tried windsurfing, snorkeling and beach activities while others just relaxed. The adult Zen pool was a great oasis and escape!
The bars were plentiful, and the quality of the drinks were great. At the Zen pool, they actually blended a big chunk of pineapple in the Pina Colada.
This Club Med was our first. It is staffed well. However, we still don’t understand the GO model. No one ever reached out to us to see how we were doing, although it was clear the GOs enjoyed each other’s company. There were plentiful staff in the restaurants, however many were rude and inattentive. We resorted to refilling our own glasses. At one point, the two year old spilled a drink. One person walked by, looked at the mess, then kept walking. Fortunately a lovely lady was behind him and immediately initiated a clean up.
We got massages at the Spa, and they were some of the best ever! Unfortunately, they did not have our pre-booked reservation, so we were charged full price….which was high and non—discounted. Which leads to my other rating…one star for Club Med Administration, customer service and business practices.
We had significant issues with dealing with Club Med. We were grateful they worked with us to change the resort when we were told Punta Cana would be undergoing fire reconstruction. However, many issues occurred. The room they transferred our kids and grands to was a single room, where we requested a family suite with separate room for the young children. We noticed this within a week, and a 2 hour conversation plus $5k more, we got what we asked for. It was frustrating for the rep to simply say, “you got what you asked for”. He said I was at fault. I would never book a single room for a young couple and under 5 age kids. They did fix it, but it was not pleasant.
Another issue that caused confusion was Club Meds policy of assigning file numbers. Although we (the grandparents) paid for everything on the same credit card, they would not acknowledge us as one reservation. This became a huge issue when the family noted above had an airline issue which caused them to have to fly in the next day. Club Med would not allow us access to that room which we had fully paid for. They said it was a different file number, with different names. I presented a copy of our daughter’s passport showing our family name. Nope. When they would not allow us access to the fully paid, almost $2k room, I asked for a refund. Still waiting for a response. There was zero customer service or empathy.
There were opportunities to pre-book spa services. As noted above, we did but they had no record. We did not receive a discounted rate. Similarly, the kids were pre-booked into kids club. No record. The most frustrating was when I fully booked a dinner reservation for our final night to celebrate a birthday. Even spoke to someone to order chocolate cake with Happy Birthday. Got to Coco Plum, no record. We waited about 20 minutes, and they finally “found” the reservation and we were seated. Absolutely zero apologies.
So, my advice is trust, yet verify. Double and triple check everything.
Kudos to Theo who was everywhere all at once, and a special shout out to Ray, who sings to the plants while doing his work.
All this said, would highly recommend Miches, especially for a quiet, mellow spring break while much of the world is in chaos.
