5-Star Review for Club Med Punta Cana (Dec 13-22)
My son and I had an unforgettable stay at Club Med Punta Cana, and I’m thrilled to give this resort a glowing 5-star review!
The food was outstanding, with a variety of delicious options to suit every taste. The activities were diverse and engaging, and the GOs were absolutely amazing. Angelo (archery) and Ricardo (aqua fitness) stood out with their professionalism and extensive fitness knowledge. Their energy and dedication made our vacation even more enjoyable.
The drinks were fantastic, and Jean Baptiste’s creations were the highlight of the bar experience. His signature JB drink, reminiscent of a rocket popsicle but crafted perfectly for adults, was exceptional.
Although our first room was fine, it lacked hooks for wet towels. After mentioning this, we were quickly moved to a new room, which was a much better fit for our needs. The site is huge, with so much to explore. The water park was a big hit for both kids and adults.
We did two excursions during our stay. The first was to Saona Island, which was absolutely beautiful. I only wish we had more time to enjoy the island. The second was a snorkeling excursion, but I found that about 70% of the coral was dead, and the experience required strong swimming skills due to the currents. While the snorkeling was fun, it wasn’t as vibrant as other locations—Club Med Cancun, for example, offers a much better snorkeling experience.
The secret beach was a lovely retreat, though there are only about five palapas, so seating is limited there. That said, loungers are plentiful in other areas, and the resort feels like it has four distinct beaches, providing lots of variety.
The staff truly made our trip exceptional. Yhonny, the restaurant manager, was incredibly helpful during busy times, especially when rain closed the outdoor tables and seating became limited. He made sure everyone was comfortable, even large groups.
As a single mother traveling with my son, I was especially touched by how welcoming and attentive the staff were. The GOs made an effort to engage with my son and ensure he was having a great time. The teenage club GOs were equally fantastic, creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere for older kids.
Romain, the Chef du Village Assistant, was always present, checking in to ensure everything was perfect and addressing any questions or requests with care.
Overall, Club Med Punta Cana exceeded my expectations. From the incredible staff and activities to the beautiful location and thoughtful service, it was a vacation to remember. We’ll definitely be back!

Thanksgiving’s a blast at Club Med Punta Cana
A belated review of my annual Thanksgiving pilgrimage and girl’s trip to Club Med Punta Cana. My friend and I have been going to Club Med every November since 2017 and as usual, it didn’t disappoint. We stay in the adults only Zen area – we each had a Terrace Room which has a beautiful patio with a daybed. So private and relaxing – just the place to have a morning coffee while doing a crossword puzzle! The terrace room at Zen is really beautiful – and kept immaculate by Rosa. I so enjoyed meeting her; we practiced English and Spanish together every day, with a little help from Google Translate. The service provided by Pauline’s Zen team was outstanding -- they were responsive and so easy to work with. With the addition of the snack bar, the Zen area is the perfect place to unwind and relax without having to go anywhere unless you want to.
One thing I do want to mention is how much I enjoyed the yoga class in the Zen pool. Laurence was an amazing instructor – I had no idea how much effort it takes to stay balanced in a pool. Her class was so relaxing and fun and I hope to see her again when I return in May.
I am an avid golfer and, as usual, took private lessons from Agustin. He is so patient and knowledgeable and has really helped improve my game. A huge improvement over last year was the ability to play at additional courses. The Lakes course at Barcelo was very challenging and a nice change from La Cana (which still is absolutely beautiful). And the putting competitions we had with golf instructor Jorge were hilarious and very competitive as well.
Thanks to chef de village Francis and his wonderful team who make guests feel like family. He was so accommodating and friendly and I really enjoyed meeting him. After the fire in September, I was a bit apprehensive about returning, but other than having one less restaurant on premises you wouldn’t notice any difference. The beach bar next to Indigo was great addition; just the place to enjoy a cocktail and music before dinner.
Thanksgiving has been an annual event for my friend and I. Chef Mario outdid himself this year, with a beautiful, plated Thanksgiving dinner for our table. After all these years we have become good friends and he really went all out for us this year. Celebrating in the Dominican Republic is always a blast!
Lastly – a big shoutout to the entire crew at Indigo. Breakfast at Indigo is my little bit of sunshine every morning, thanks to my BFFs Leonela and Leidy, who welcome me back each time I visit with big hugs, kisses and an iced latte with whipped cream the moment I sit down! We still “WhatsApp” once a week to check in with each other.
I am blessed to be able to call this place my home away from home!
